Neuromuscular Neurologist – Vassar Brothers Medical Center – Poughkeepsie, New York
Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider and private employer, is seeking a full-time BC/BE Neuromuscular Neurologist to join the Northwell Department of Neurology at Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) in Poughkeepsie, NY - just 75 minutes north of New York City.
We are seeking a highly motivated Neuromuscular Neurologist to join our dynamic team. This role offers exceptional flexibility, focusing exclusively on ambulatory practice, allowing for a balanced professional life while providing cutting-edge patient care.
As part of your appointment, you will receive a medical school appointment within the department, fostering opportunities for academic engagement. This role provides opportunities for research and teaching, as a core faculty member of the Vassar Neurology residency. We also provide comprehensive Continuing Medical Education (CME) support.
You will be joining a health system nationally recognized for excellence, including three hospitals ranked among the U.S. News & World Report's Top 50. Our Neuromuscular division operates at a robust system level, offering collaborative benefits such as a system-wide Neuromuscular Case Conference and diverse teaching opportunities.
Discover VBMC, Kingston, and the Hudson Valley:
Set on the banks of the scenic Hudson River, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center is a 350-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887.
VBMC delivers the region’s leading acute and critical emergency care, including Level II Trauma Service and Interventional Neuroradiology, alongside established centers of excellence in cardiac services, neurosciences, cancer care, and women’s health. The hospital is consistently ranked among the nation’s strongest cardiac programs and was named a Top 100 Heart Hospital by Modern HealthCare Magazine. Our Kingston site extends that same standard of care further into the Hudson Valley, giving you the opportunity to serve patients across both communities.
The Hudson Valley offers an outstanding quality of life — hiking the Shawangunk Ridge, biking the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, sailing the river itself, and spending weekends at farmers markets, art galleries, and farm-to-table restaurants that draw visitors from across the Northeast.
Poughkeepsie and Kingston both offer charming, walkable downtowns, strong public and private schools, and a range of housing – from historic riverfront homes to new construction – at a fraction of downstate prices. Nearby Beacon, just across the Hudson, offers a vibrant arts and dining scene and has become a popular home base for professionals seeking small-city charm with big-city culture. The area is also home to respected colleges and universities, including Vassar College, Bard College, Marist College, SUNY New Paltz, and the Culinary Institute of America, and when you want the city, Manhattan is just 75 minutes away via Metro-North or Amtrak.
