Assistant or Associate Professor – Division of Movement Disorders

The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Movement Disorders Neurologist to join the Division of Movement Disorders as a full-time academic faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The Division combines a nationally recognized Parkinson’s Disease Center of Excellence, an established neuromodulation program offering DBS and focused ultrasound, and a major translational Parkinson’s disease research program. The Department is anchored at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a tertiary and quaternary referral center and the principal teaching hospital of RWJMS.
Position Highlights
- Full-time academic faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; rank and track commensurate with experience
- Primarily outpatient practice spanning Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, essential tremor, dystonia, Huntington’s disease, and other movement disorders
- Participate in a comprehensive neuromodulation program offering focused ultrasound, awake deep brain stimulation (DBS) and ClearPoint-guided asleep DBS. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, postoperative management, and DBS programming in close collaboration with functional neurosurgeons Robert E. Gross, MD, PhD, and Zane Schnurman, MD, and experienced DBS programmers trained at UCSF and NYU.
- Dedicated neuropsychology support with extensive experience evaluating patients for DBS
- Perform botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders
- Access to translational research through the RWJMS Institute for Neurological Therapeutics and to the Department’s clinical trials portfolio
- Teach and mentor neurology residents, advanced practice providers, medical students, and visiting trainees and help build the Department’s planned Movement Disorders fellowship
- Collaborative practice with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, and other specialty teams
- Participate in the inpatient general neurology consultation service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
- Shared evening and weekend call schedule for inpatient general neurology service.

Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
- Fellowship training in Movement Disorders
- Experience with botulinum toxin therapy and DBS evaluation/programming preferred
- Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey
- Strong commitment to outpatient clinical care, teaching, and academic medicine
Salary range and benefits
- Salary range of $260,000 to $330,000 per year. Competitive compensation aligned with AAMC standards, commensurate with rank and experience.
