Assistant or Associate Professor – Division of Neuromuscular Medicine

The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neuromuscular Neurologist to join the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine as a full-time academic faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for patients with neuromuscular disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings while contributing to the education of medical students, and residents. The Division is led by Susan C. Shin, MD, a nationally recognized clinician-educator, and leads the Department’s nationally certified ALS Center of Excellence. The Department is anchored at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, a tertiary and quaternary referral center and the principal teaching hospital of RWJMS.
Position Highlights
- Full-time academic faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; rank and track commensurate with experience
- Outpatient and inpatient neuromuscular practice spanning ALS and motor neuron disease, myasthenia gravis, CIDP and other neuropathies, myopathies, and muscular dystrophies
- Perform EMG/NCS and electrodiagnostic studies in conjunction with a technician in the hospital’s neurophysiology laboratory (certification planned).
- Participate in multidisciplinary care through the Department’s nationally certified ALS Center of Excellence
- Teach and mentor neurology residents, advanced practice providers, medical students, and visiting trainees and help develop the Department’s planned Neuromuscular Medicine fellowship
- Participate in clinical research, including ALS clinical trials, and scholarly activities such as outcomes research, quality improvement and collaboration with basic and translational neuroscientists across Rutgers.
- Shared evening and weekend call schedule for inpatient general neurology service.
- Participate in the inpatient general neurology consultation service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

- Our clinical facilities use Epic as their electronic medical record (EMR).
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
- Fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent.
- Expertise in EMG/NCS and electrodiagnostic medicine
- Experience with neuromuscular ultrasound is welcome
- Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey
- Strong commitment to outpatient clinical care, teaching, and academic medicine
Salary range and benefits
- Salary range of $275,000 to $350,000 per year. Competitive compensation aligned with AAMC standards, commensurate with rank and experience.
