The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurologist to join the Department as a full-time academic Neurohospitalist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The neurohospitalist will lead inpatient general neurology care and bedside teaching at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), the principal teaching hospital of RWJMS and a tertiary and quaternary referral center with a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a dedicated neurology-led Neurocritical Care Unit, and a Level 4 Epilepsy Center.
Position Highlights
- Full-time academic faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level; rank and track commensurate with experience
- Inpatient-based practice at RWJUH, attending on the general neurology inpatient and consultation services
- 7-day service typical duration
- High-acuity, high-volume practice at a Level 1 Trauma Center, working alongside the Comprehensive Stroke Center, a 15-bed Neurocritical Care Unit, and a Level 4 Epilepsy Center with an epilepsy surgery program
- Teach and mentor neurology residents, advanced practice providers, medical students, and visiting trainees on a core teaching service
- Opportunities to lead quality improvement, patient safety, and transitions-of-care initiatives and to help shape the Department’s inpatient neurology model across RWJBarnabas Health
- Participate in Neurology Grand Rounds, morning report, and departmental academic conferences
- Opportunities for clinical research and educational scholarship
- Shared evening and weekend call schedule for inpatient general neurology service.

- Our clinical facilities use Epic as their electronic medical record (EMR).
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology
- Fellowship training in neurohospitalist medicine and vascular neurology are welcome but not required
- Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey
- Strong commitment to inpatient care, teaching, and academic medicine
Salary range and benefits
- Salary range of $280,000 to $350,000 per year. Competitive compensation aligned with AAMC standards, commensurate with rank and experience.
